Alan Edwards - Global PFM

For many years Alan has been working with and for CIPFA to build its global profile and establish partnerships with other accountancy bodies and commercial organisations around the world. He was a CIPFA Executive Director with various briefs for international development, strategy and finance. 

Alan has been sponsored by CIPFA and the other accountancy bodies in UK to represent them on international bodies.

Until December 2021 he was Chair of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) Public Sector Committee.

He was for six years the UK CCAB member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) PAO Development Committee. On that committee he was Chair of a working party looking at building a new approach to foundational level training for accountants initially in Africa but then on a global basis. He also sat on numerous other working parties. 

He was for 7 years Deputy Chair of the Public Sector Committee of Accountancy Europe the body representing the accounting profession in Europe. In that role he has been a regular moderator for roundtable discussions on the future of EPSAS - European Public Sector Accounting Standards. 

Alan has spoken at multiple international PFM conferences around the world. He has also hosted many visits to CIPFA offices in London by delegations from around the world.
