Alan Edwards - Chair and NED

Alan is an experienced public sector and not for profit Chair and non executive director (NED) with a wealth of governance experience. 

 

Alan was Chair of Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a major acute and tertiary healthcare provider. 

 

Alan is currently Deputy Chair at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS FT where he acts as Chair of the Audit Committee. His committee had an important role to play during the merger between the two FTs. In July 2022 Alan was appointed as NED and Audit Committee Chair for the new Black Country Integrated Care Board. In 2021 he joined PSAA as an independent member of their Audit Committee. In 2019 he was appointed as an Independent Governor at the University of Wolverhampton and Chairs its Finance Committee.  He is also Chair of UWMAT - the University of Wolverhampton Multi Academy Trust.

 

Previously Alan has been an independent member of the Board of the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA). This was a significant NDPB within the Home Office. He was also previously a NED and Audit Chair at Walsall Hospital NHS Trust and Deputy Chair of the Ethics, Transpareny and Audit Panel (ETAP) of Staffordshire Commissioner.  

 

In the charitable sector Alan has been an audit committee member at Citizens Advice and the Royal Society of Arts Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

 

In the private sector Alan was an advisory board member of Finnamore a highly respected healthcare consultancy prior to its sale to GE.
